A few weeks ago, stencil graffiti started appearing over the streets of the Mission district in San Francisco, showing twee messages like "Your existence gives me hope" and "Your sweet voice breaks my heart".
A few days later, amusingly snappy counter-graffiti started showing up:
(Thankfully, these days "take a photo" means "someone else on the internet has already taken the photo I want so I'm just going to use that")

Nice to know that people are leaving comments in other places than the men's room. Do women's rest rooms have writing in them?
While I love the creative aspect of the messages and they really are funny stencils...I really don't go for graffiti. I must admit I have known a few taggers in my day, but always referred to them as criminals.As always, their justification was that it was art. Hmmm, I never really saw it that way. There's a thing called canvas for that. Peace.

Love your post. These began popping up in the Central West End area in St. Louis about two years ago. My two favorites were this pile of poo with scissors cutting into the top....then this really random, but very funny one of two stencil dogs humping. Yay for graffiti vandals!

I've seen some similar philisophical style graffiti in a city near me. "I am reading this, therefore I am." and other such comments.
I though some were pretty clever!
